Obituary of Olga Swanson

Olga Swanson June 8, 1928 - April 1, 2017 The family of Olga Swanson sadly announce that she passed away at the Big River Health Centre on Saturday, April 1, 2017 with her family by her side. Olga was born on June 8, 1928 to Stephan and Katherine (nee: Chomyk) Wicinski in Szyly, Ukraine. Olga devoted much of her time and energy as a provider and caregiver to her children and husband Eric. Olga's children remember her as the cornerstone of their family -- a warm, engaging woman who welcomed everyone. She will be deeply missed, but she will live in the hearts of all of those whom she touched during her life. The family wishes to thank all of those at the Big River Long-term Care Centre who took such wonderful care of Olga during the past five years. A funeral service for Olga will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at the Evangelical Free Church in Big River, SK with Jake McCrea officiating. The pianist and soloist is Karlene Gurdian. Danae Davidson and Bob Swanson are giving the readings. Matthew Davidson is delivering the eulogy. Honorary pallbearers are all relatives and friends who shared in Olga's life. The active pallbearers are Ron Grant, Darren Swanson, Nathan Davidson, Darrelle Delorme, Esteban Gurdian and Matthew Davidson. A private family interment will follow the service. Olga is lovingly remembered by her children: Rosemarie Grant of Lloydminster, SK and children, Karen, Valerie, Ron and Debbie; Merv (Pat) Swanson of Nanaimo, B.C. and children, Myrna (Trevor) and family, Sheldon (Tania) and family and Darren (Julie) and family; Bob Swanson of Big River, SK and children, Adam (Gil) and Josh (Koral) and family; Lyle Swanson of Saskatoon, SK; Murray Swanson of Coquitlam, B.C. and children, Jesse and Ondraya; Joyce (Darren) Davidson of Big River, SK and children, Karlene (Esteban), Nathan, Matthew and Danae. Olga is also remembered by her siblings and their families: Walter (Shirley) Wiciniski, Anne Neely, Jenny Lueken and Mary Johnson as well as friends. Olga is predeceased by: her husband, Eric Swanson- April, 2002; her daughter, Darlene- August, 1965; and her parents, Steve and Katherine Wicinski.
