Obituary of Douglas "Bud" Raymond Bundy

Douglas (Bud) Raymond Bundy August 16, 1928 – April 1, 2017 Douglas “Bud” Bundy passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Saturday April 1st, 2017. He is loved and dearly missed by Lucy, his wife of 64 years, daughters Joanne (Ben) Schenstead and Karen (Doug) Bilsky, and his brother Clint Bundy. His memory will be cherished by his grandchildren Angela (Phil), Jordan (Kayla), Melanie (Andrew), and his great grandchild Isla. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Bud was predeceased by his parents William and Elsie Bundy; his sisters Doris Kaaz, Holly Hewitt, Thelma York, Mavis Schultz and Lillian Owens; and his brother Allan Bundy. As a young man Bud left home and worked in southern Saskatchewan on a farm and then worked in logging camps in northern Saskatchewan, Ontario and BC before acquiring his own land and farm near Shell Lake. There he worked hard to clear the land and establish his own mixed farm, which he took immense pride in. It was there that Bud and Lucy raised their family. Bud’s easy-going manner and smile, along with his friendly and kind nature endeared him to many. He valued hard work and honesty, and a handshake was as good as a contract to him and to those whom he had dealings with. He was moderate in habits, resourceful and loved the routine of farm life. In his later years, Bud and Lucy enjoyed travelling and meeting new people in various communities they visited, especially in Ontario, the Maritimes and Alaska. Although a man of few words, Bud demonstrated a lifelong faith in God and looked forward to the day when “God will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain for the former things have passed away” Rev 21:4. Celebration of Bud’s life will be held in Shell Lake, SK at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the Lions Hall. Arrangements have been entrusted to Beau “Lac” Funeral Home, Fred Pomrenk, Funeral Director, Shellbrook (306-747-2828).
