Obituary of Marlene Margaret Lomsnes

Marlene Margaret Lomsnes 1940 - 2017 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Marlene Margaret Lomsnes on May 6, 2017. Marlene was the eldest daughter born to Margaret and Gerald Evans of Radville, SK. She moved to Big River in her mid-teens. This is where she met the love of her life and husband of 56 years, Leonard Lomsnes. Marlene enjoyed many activities including being a part of the Royal Purple Ladies, United Church and the local curling club. Together with Anna & Reidar Lomsnes, they owned and operated O.P Godin Grocery Store. She made many great friends in the wonderful community of Big River. Marlene is lovingly survived by her children, Marcia (Don) Holyk; Cayla (Collin) Colby; and son Cory (Jen) Lomsnes; Grandchildren, Ashley, Dallas, Brooklyn and Madison Holyk; James, Quinn and Tegan Colby; Riley and Kiara Lomsnes; Cody Christiansen; and Great Grandchildren, Knox Bailey, Annabelle Doucet & Ryder Colby; her brother Ray Evans; and sisters Barb Evans (Allan Sieben), Betty Evans, and Pam Fortier; as well as numerous other relatives and many friends. Marlene was predeceased by her parents, Margarette and Gerald Evans; her husband Leonard Lomsnes and her son Jordon Lomsnes. Mom suffered for many years and is now pain free. Her wish was to be in her home and our guardian angel, Barb Riffle, came at a perfect time and took wonderful care of our mom, thank you. There will be a Celebration of Life held for Marlene on Tuesday, July 4th, 2017 at 2:00 p.m at the Big River Legion Hall. In lieu of tributes memorial donations may be made in memory of Marlene to the Big River Health Care Fund (Box 220 Big River, SK S0J 0E0).
