Hendrik "Hank" Gerrit Veerenhuis
July 5, 1934 - May 25, 2017
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Hank Veerenhuis announce his passing on Thursday, May 25th, 2017 at Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, Sask. at the age of 82.
Hank was born in Almelo, Holland and moved to Canada when he was 21 years old. Hank was in the military in Holland and farmed in Canada. He became a police officer until his retirement in 1989.
On August 18, 1962 Hank married Edith Eversen and they had 3 children, Michael, Eric and Melanie. After Hank's retirement from the police force, Hank and Edie moved to property near Mont Nebo, Sask. where Hank enjoyed woodworking and mowing the lawn.
Hank is survived by: his loving wife, Edie; his children, Michael (Roxann), Eric (Teryl) and Melanie (Todd) Smith; and his grandchildren Alyssa Veerenhuis, Danielle Veerenhuis, Devin Veerenhuis, Justice Affeldt-Smith and Jaxon Smith.
The memorial service for Hank will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, May 30th, 2017 at the Mont Nebo Community Hall in Mont Nebo, Saskatchewan with Pastor Bill Klumpenhower officiating. Lunch will follow in the hall. Interment will be at a later date.
Donations in Hank's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Saskatchewan Diabetes Association.
