Obituary of Lillian "Lil" Gorgina McKeand

Lillian “Lil” McKeand April 22, 1925 – June 3, 2017 With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Lil McKeand on June 3, 2017, at the age of 92. She’s survived by her sons Scott and Jeff, and her sister Minnie, as well as numerous relatives & friends. Lil was born April 22, 1925 near Melfort, SK. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Thomas Johnson, her Mother & Father, 2 sisters, and 3 brothers (including her infant brother). Mom worked at numerous jobs in her career, initially with Sanitorium (thoroughly enjoying the Sanitorium lunches in later years), as a book keeper at Codville’s, being a homemaker and her favourite job working with the kids at Day Care as her last job prior to her retirement years. Mom is a life member of the Army & Navy Ladies Auxiliary, serving numerous years on the Executive. Mom had a love for sports and was always supporting the “boys” sports endeavors growing up, assisting with organizing, fund raising or working the gate at the events. She was an avid curler into her 80’s, as well as starting golfing in her 60’s. Her Senior Ladies Curling lunches were a high priority until her health didn’t allow her outings. In later years curling was her #1 sport to watch on TV, followed by the Toronto Blue Jays. Mom had a special talent for excelling at whatever she attempted, from gardening, crocheting, knitting, sewing clothes, upholstery, even making moccasins (just to try), and being an excellent cook, always able to whip up a great meal, specializing in her Swedish dishes. She looked so forward to the Friday coffee outings, even when not driving, always wanting to get down to Walmart to meet the ladies. The family would like to thank Dr. Halyk, the Victoria Hospital ER, ICU and 4,5 & 6th Floor Staff. Special Thanks to the staff at Birch View Care Home, in the short time Mom stayed with you she really settled in and absolutely enjoyed her time, especially the activities & bus outings. Thank all of you for the care & compassion you gave our mom! At Mom’s request there will be no service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Beau 'Lac' Funeral Home, Lorne Adams, Funeral Director, Prince Albert, SK. 306-763-3322
