Obituary of Bernard Lukan
It is with deep sadness that the family of Bernard Lukan announces his passing on December 14, 2007 at Whispering Pine Place in Canwood at the age of 85 years. Bernard was born January 1, 1922 in the Fulda District where he grew up. He received basic training in the army in Regina and Vernon, BC. Bernard married Clara Lucke on November 20, 1945. They moved to the Debden area in 1945 where they raised their family and farmed for many years. Bernard was an avid gardener and a dedicated community volunteer. He was involved with his church, RM, school board, Woodland Home Care and numerous other volunteer organizations. Bernard leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 63 years, Clara of Debden, SK; his children Mary (Harold) Hoffman of Grenfell, SK and their children James (Cheryl) Hoffman and their children Eisha and Granger; Randy (Shirley) Hoffman and their children Jessica and Amy; Margaret (Ronald) Reves of Debden, SK and their children Brenda (Sheldon) Eversen; Rhonda (Steven) Peterson and their children Rhea and Leland; Anthony (Joan) Lukan of Debden, SK and their children Leslie (Cory) Kolhenburg and their son Austin; Tyann (Jeff) Erikssen; Joseph Lukan; Therese (Stuart) McLean of Lloydminster, SK and their children Karen McLean and her children Dylan and Keira; Keith (Jennifer) McLean and their children Zoe and Dominic; Kristen McLean; Paul (Paulette) Lukan of Warman, SK and their children Catherine and Jeffrey; Dolores (Ross) Poppel of Shellbrook, SK and their children David (Karen) Poppel and their children Kimberly and Deklen; Susanlynn (Christopher) Marquis and their son Tristan; Sarah (Justin) Berting; Francis (Sadie) Lukan of Dawson Creek, BC and their children A.J. and Cheyanne; and Alfred (Trenna) Lukan of Debden, SK and their children Jessica, Gerard, Andrew and Lauren; his daughter in-law Linda Lukan and her children Chad Lukan (Aimee Brassard) and their children Tanisha and Kayla; Brian (Deanna) Lukan; Lana Lukan (Scott Comeau); his sisters Leona (Jack) Collins of Debden, SK and Agnes (Frank) Zunti of Saskatoon, SK, his brothers Leonard (Margaret) Lukan of Pilger, SK, Marcel (Dorothy) Lukan of Debden, SK, Erwin (Marguerite) Lukan of Debden, SK as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and countless friends. He was predeceased by his sons Joseph (Jeannie) Lukan and Gerard Lukan, his infant daughter Bernadette, his parents Mary and Henry Lukan and his infant sister Anna. The prayer service will be held on Wednesday, December 19th, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. from Jean Baptiste R. C. Church in Debden with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow on Thursday, December 20th, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. The celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Bernabe Millan Sajonas and the cross bearer will be Chad Lukan. The organist will be Diane Duret and the hymns will be Holy God We Praise Thy Name and O Lord I Am Not Worthy. Gilles Francoeur will sing a solo, Life Is Changed. Honorary pall bearers are all family and friends who have shared in Bernard's life and the active pall bearers will be Randy Hoffman, Brian Lukan, Joseph Lukan, Keith McLean, Jeffrey Lukan and David Poppel. The Knights of Columbus will form an honor guard. Cremation will follow the service and Bernard will be laid to rest in the Debden Cemetery at a later date.
