Obituary of Leona Larance

Larance, Leona - The family of Leona Larance are deeply saddened to announce her passing on December 25, 2007 in Shellbrook at the age of 78 years. She was born and raised in the Leask area. Leona met and married Henry Larance and they lived in Shell Lake raising five children who all graduated from the Shell Lake High School. Leona loved to garden and cook. She spent a lot of time looking after a big garden. Leona's main concern in life was making sure everyone had enough to eat. Her visitors were always greeted with tea and goodies to feed an army. Leona and Henry left Shell Lake in 1999 to spend their retirement years in Shellbrook. They resided in Homestead Place and as usual, the tea pot was always on and no one went away hungry. Leona passed away peacefully with her family by her side. She will be missed by her family and all the people that she came to know through the years. Leona leaves to cherish her memory her children Esther (Gilles) Labelle of Grandora, SK; Charlie Larance of Radisson, SK; Wayne Larance of Shell Lake, SK; and Andrew (Heather) Larance of Saskatoon, SK; her grandchildren Jodi & Jeff Kieper; Wyatt & Damon Larance; Vanessa (Kurtis) Heimbecker & their children Brandon & Skylar; Lanna Dawn Labatt & her children Samantha & Taslyn. She is predeceased by her loving husband Henry, a daughter Helen Labatt and her parents Joe & Rosalee. The funeral service was held on Saturday, December 29th, 2007 at 10:30 am from St. Andrew's Anglican Church in Shellbrook with Reverend Mary Ann Boote as the officiant. The congregational hymns were Safe in the Arms of Jesus, Old Rugged Cross and Amazing Grace accompanied by organist David Hjertaas. The honorary pall bearers were all of Leona's family & friends who knew and loved her and the active pall bearers were Charlie Larance, Wayne Larance, Andrew Larance, Jodi Kieper, Jeff Kieper, Gilles Labelle and Vanessa Heimbecker. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shellbrook & Districts Health Services Project. Leona was laid to rest in the Shell Lake Cemetery.
