Obituary of Emilien Leo Robin
ROBIN – Mr. Emilien
1929-2017
It is with deep sorrow that the family of Emilien Leo Robin announce his passing on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the age of 88 years.
Emilien (Emile) Robin was born at home on his parent’s farm, in the Damour district 12 miles west of Leask, on February 1, 1929. He was the fifth child of nine children born to Arthur and Marie Anne Robin. He attended school at the Beausite School, 3 miles from home. At the age of 14 he quit school to help his brothers with the farm. They had lost their dad suddenly when Emile was only 12 years old. Beginning when he was about 16, he would spend some of the winter months working at various jobs off the farm. Worked at Foothills, Alberta in the bush; in Edmonton, as a labourer for a home builder. He also worked at Burns in Prince Albert, as a meat cutter; and later during plant expansion as a pipe insulator. In spring he would go back to the farm in Damour to farm with his brother Paul. Emile married Marie Lehner on July 26, 1958. He, with the help of his brother, built a home on the quarter of land he had purchased from his Mom, and they began their life together there. God blessed them with 7 children; 6 sons and 1 daughter. In 1989, they sold the farm to their son Myles, and built a home in Leask. Emile spent the next 20 years going to the farm to help Myles. He was still able to do what he loved the most and that was farming. He took up the sport of curling, travelling to Shellbrook twice a week to curl with the seniors there. Also spent lots of time golfing. He enjoyed the fellowship with fellow curlers and golfers. Sadly, dementia began to be evident. He was no longer able to safely help on the farm. However, he was still able to do gardening in their large yard in town. He was admitted to Mont St. Joseph Care Home in Prince Albert in February of 2015, as Marie was no longer able to care for him at home. A very sad day for all the family. He was happy there and often said to Marie, "This is a nice place". He passed away in Victoria Hospital in PA in the early morning hours of August 16, with his wife of 59 years at his side. Emilien is lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Marie; his children: Francis (Velda Beaman) Robin of Saskatoon, SK and family Megan; Laura (Kewan Aboulhosn); Mitchel; Sarah Nagy (Chance Parenteau); Nicole Nagy; Allison Nagy; Donna (Lloyd) Bruner of Leask, SK and family: Grant (Callie) Sarah & Olivia; Lynn (Cody) Van Hereweghe - Hayley & Tyler; Holly (Kelly) Nelson Carter & Ryan; Melissa (Devin) Peters - Tyvan, Jackson, Leo; Myles (Imelda) Robin of Leask, SK and family: Corryn (Curtis) Jepsen - Lily & Emily; Adelle (Jordan) Danylyshen; Kyle (Dany) Robin; Tenille (Clayton Rempel); Chantelle; Michael (Jackie) Robin of Saskatoon, SK and family: Anthony (Alli Sparling) Jordyn; Natalie; Danielle; Brent (Andrea) Robin of Calgary, AB and family: Chelsea; Jorey; Kenneth (Jennifer) Robin of Mission, BC and family: Devan; Jeremy; Rebecca (Stephen) Green; Brianna & Tyler Senft; Noel (Kim) Robin of Abbotsford, BC and family: Ashley; and Justin; his siblings: Oliver (Ingrid) of Edmonton, AB; George (Olga) of Spruce Grove, AB; Olive (Paul) Garand of Prince Albert, SK; Leon (Audrey) of Prince Albert, SK ; his brother-in-law, Norman Reidt of Saskatoon, SK ; numerous siblings-in-law, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
