Obituary of Carl James Williamson
In Loving Memory Carl James Williamson
1928 - 2017
Carl passed away peacefully on August 27, 2017 in Birchview Home, Birch Hills, Saskatchewan at the age of 89.
Dad was born January 17, 1928 to Mary Anne and James Williamson in the Fir Ridge district of Prince Albert. In October 21, 1953, Dad married Viola Bear at St. George’s Anglican Church in Prince Albert.
Dad began his working career with the Saskatchewan Navy Ferry Service July 23, 1953 and was transferred between Birch Hills and Cecil ferries.
In 1966 a house was built at the Weldon Ferry; Dad transferred and moved his family into a new home. He retired from operating the Weldon Ferry in 1984 and the family home was moved to Muskoday First Nation. Upon his retirement in 1984 the Saskatchewan Government presented Dad with a plaque for 31 years and 3 months of loyal and dedicated service.
Dad was well known and respected as a ferry operator. His quick wrist could loop and tie the ferry securely within seconds and when he dropped the chain for your departure you could always expect a friendly wave and a ready smile. Dad enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards. His hunting, fishing and playing cards stories will be remembered by many.
Dad’s children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were his greatest joy. There was always a ready smile for them as well as a sweet treats such as cookies, candy or his favorite scotch mints.
Dad will always be remembered as a kind, generous person who always gave what he could to help others. He will be deeply missed as he certainly has left a void in the lives of the people he touched.
We will miss you husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa, brother and friend.
