Obituary of Conrad Mark Gregoire

Conrad “Mark” Gregoire January 26, 1946 – September 1, 2017 Conrad “Mark” Gregoire was born January 26, 1946 at his home near the shore of Crooked Lake in the Qu’Appelle Valley. The lake and outdoors were a huge part of his life. He was a strong swimmer and enjoyed fishing, boating and hunting. He learned to skate on the frozen lake and played childhood hockey on outdoor rinks. His love of nature never warned. He knew the life patterns and cycles of plants and animals. He spent much of his time watching birds at his feeder and in the fields. He had a keen eye for nature’s way. Mark was a jack of all trades. He could build and repair most things. His chosen profession was a pipefitter. Mark always did thorough, meticulous work on every task. With his knowledge and well-honed skills, he mentored a number of people to do the same. In work, as in life, Mark gave his all. “If you’re doing a job, do it right” was the motto adopted from his mother. “Get at it and get it done!” Mark had such a positive work ethic which Chad and Liza adopted. He worked hard and played hard. This was evident in the way he played cards, board games, water gun fights with his kids, hockey, riding his motorcycle, and driving the boat, snow machines and well maintained vehicles. He loved to tease and play practical jokes. His laugh was contagious and his hugs were intense. He was a core member of the Weirdale 2 o’clock club where he shared his views on all matters from politics to sports. Mark, with his family, had many camping expeditions. Camping was at lakes along the Hanson Lake hood. The scheduled camping spot by the lake at Big Sandy was a favourite for years. Mark was a proved Canadian. He, along with his family, camped from the east coast to the west coast of this wonderful country. He, and his wife Norma, purchased land near Weirdale in 1992, early mornings would often find Mark outside enjoying and appreciating this piece of Canada that he owned. He truly loved being at and caring for “the farm” Mark passed away on September 1, 2017 following complications from surgery. He will be sadly missed by his loving family; his wife Norma; son Chad (Rachel), Elliot and Oliver; daughter Liza Edeen (Kevin), Kaitlyn and Alex. Being the youngest of nine children and brother-in-law to twelve, he leaves behind many to mourn his death. He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Eliza Gregoire; parents-in-law, Bill and Laura Wall; three sisters, a nephew, and four brothers-in-law. A private family service at “the farm” was held. In lieu of tributes, donations may be made to Telemiracle (2217C Hanselman Court, Saskatoon, SK, S7L 6A8) or a charity of the donor’s choice.
