Obituary of Edward Simonar

Edward Simonar April 11, 1929 - September 25, 2017 It is with sadness that the family of Edward Simonar announce his passing on September 25, 2017 at the age of 88 years. Funeral services will be held on Friday Sept. 29, 2017 from the Shell Lake Lions Hall, Shell Lake, SK at 2:00 p.m., with Reverends Brad Wudrich and David Jensen officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. Edward Patrick Simonar (Ed, Eddy), was born April 11, 1929 on the family farm to Louis and Eva Simonar. He did his schooling at Shell Lake Rural School and wrote his first mechanics exam in Prince Albert, passing it on the first try. When the adjudicator saw his mark he said he would not have to write another test, only pay his $1 a year to upgrade it until he got his journeyman's. Most people have to write the exam each year until their journeyman's is official. He married the love of his life, Gladys Brown, on May 2, 1952. Together they raised 5 children: Leslie (deceased), Cathy (Rick) Coles - Devon (Adina), Sadie & Samuel, Mark (Sarah), Paula (Liz) , Savannah, Max & Isla Dianne (Brian) Bosomworth - Brady (Madison), Carly (Michael) Pompu Lorna (Ted) Boryski - Leslie (Ashley), Charlie, Parker, Luca & Brynne Calvin (Eva) - Crystal, Jonathon, Jeremiah, Candice, Cheryl, Kaleb, Naomi, Brandy & Nicolas. He was loved and admired by all who knew him and will be remembered for his mechanics, music, community service, bus driving and of course, his whistling. He was a very community minded person who would drop whatever he was doing to help out his fellow citizens. Many a cold winter night he would drive to fix a furnace or pull a vehicle out of the ditch.
