Obituary of Raymonde Madeline Fusick

Raymonde Madeleine (Ruel) Fusick a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, auntie and friend passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the Big River Health Center, at the age of 79. Raymonde was born in Canwood, Sk. on July 21, 1938 to Cebal & Germaine Ruel. She was the first born of 16 children, grew up in Debden, Sk and quickly became her mom’s helper. After finishing grade 8, she quit school to become a full-fledged housekeeper. This time in her life was very hard on her as she lost touch with her friends and had to grow up fast. She started babysitting quite early; at one time she had 21 children to watch. Raymonde married the love of her life, Victor Fusick on January 24, 1961 (coldest day of the year) in Debden, Sk. This was also Victors birthday. The love story of “Puncho & Hun” began. They started half their family of 8 children in Prince Albert, Sk. and finished in Port Alberni, B.C. They returned to Saskatchewan in 1974, to own and operate a service station in Shell Lake, Sk. In 1986 Raymonde’s heart became whole again when her first born returned to her arms. In 1995, she lost her best friend and soulmate when Victor passed away suddenly. Through many trials and tribulations of Raymonde’s life, her faith in God remained strong. These past few months were a true test of which she remained steadfast. God was with her through it all. Raymonde loved to knit and crochet. All of her children received a blanket upon graduation and a beautiful tablecloth for their wedding. Raymonde could cook! She loved cooking for many family gatherings and we never ran out. Her perogies, cabbage rolls and meat pies were the best! She passed that ability on to her children. Every Christmas her children and grandchildren received perogies. She felt she wasn’t giving much, not realizing how much they looked forward to them. Raymonde worked several jobs all awhile being a fulltime mom. She retired from Mont St. Joseph Care Home where she was a supervisor of housekeeping. She believed that if you were doing something, do it right the first time. It showed in her work. Raymonde was always there for her family and friends. She was happiest helping others. She will be missed by all. Funeral Liturgy was celebrated at St. Agatha’s Roman Catholic Church, Shellbrook, Sk., on Friday October 6, 2017 at 2pm. Father Michael Fahlman and Father Tru Le as celebrants. Musical tributes were performed by her children and grandchildren. Eulogy given by brothers, Phil Ruel & Alain Ruel, sisters, Marie Anne Vogels & Yvette Gareau. Honorary Pallbearers were her brothers and sisters, brother and sister in laws, and godchildren. Urn bearers were her children Marian Shynkaruk & Mark Fusick. Final resting place is the Shellbrook Cemetery.
