Obituary of Andre "Andy" Lavoie

Andre "Andy" Lavoie February 23, 1947 - February 13, 2018 Andre “Andy” Marcel Lavoie was born February 23, 1947 in Spiritwood, SK and passed away February 13, 2018 in Shellbrook, SK at the age of 70 years. Andy is lovingly remembered by his children: Brad Lavoie (Michelle Higgins) of Saskatoon, SK, Grant Lavoie of Spiritwood, SK, Leanne (Derek) Sawatsky of Spiritwood, SK and their family: Courtney (Dayton) and Kaylee (Dalin), Corinne (Dave) Schell of Allan, SK and their family: Logan, Jenna and Jayde, special friend, Carole Drangsholt of Leoville, SK, his brother, Raymond (Helen) Lavoie of Grande Prairie, AB, his sister, Lena Rogers of Shaunavon, SK also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Ann in 2006, parents, Arthur and Clemence Lavoie, brother, Henri and an infant brother, Arthur, brother-in-law, Ivan Rogers and parents-in-law, Joseph and Elizabeth Oster. The funeral service was held on Monday, February 19, 2018 at 1:00 pm from the Spiritwood Civic Centre, Spiritwood, SK with Delores Beaulac officiating. Soloist Phil Marion provided the music for the funeral service, the eulogy was delivered by son Grant Lavoie. Honorary Pallbearers were considered “All relatives and friends who have shared in Andy’s life”, the urn bearer was son Brad Lavoie. Andy’s final resting place will be with his wife at the Laventure Cemetery at a later date. Immediately following the service, the family invited all those in attendance for a time of lunch and fellowship in the Civic Centre. Andy Lavoie was a family man. He loved no one more than his children and grandchildren who were his whole world. He always showed how proud of them he was and was proud of their accomplishments. He had a love for Spiritwood and for many years was a businessman and a volunteer in the community. Andy enjoyed hunting, fishing, card games, going to coffee shops, tinkering with his old cars as well as buying an selling old car parts. He especially loved travelling to old car shows. He loved visiting, sharing stories, smiles and laughter with good friends and even strangers. He especially loved teasing and having fun with children, losing games on purpose in order to buy them a treat. He enjoyed the simple things in life and had the biggest, kindest, gentlest heart. Hugs, kisses and "I love you's" were plentiful. He always said we weren't rich but we were millionaires with love.
