Obituary of Orville William Aug
Mr. Orville William Aug, age 95, late of Shellbrook, and formerly of Parkside, passed away in the Shellbrook Hospital on Wednesday, February 20, 2008. The Funeral Service was held on Monday, February 25 at 1:30 pm at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkside with Rev. Peter Nolan as officiant. Orville was born on November 30, 1912 on the family farm near Parkside, and remained there for 94 years. He enjoyed farm life as a young man, and played ball with the Yankee Valley ball team. He got a job with Fellows Brothers garage, took a welding course in Saskatoon, and became very talented at creating metal parts. In 1943 he married the love of his life, Rose Hollowell, and they have had 64 years together. Orville's farming career has spanned the evolution from horses to modern day machinery. He was adept at repairing his machinery, and even building something from scratch. He had the mind of an engineer, but preferred to be a farmer. Orville was also adept at carpentry, plumbing and electrical work and built 4 homes, as well as other carpentry work. He was active in the community, being involved with the Shellbrook Co-op, the Parkside Wheat Pool, and was a founding member of the Shellbrook Credit Union. In later years Orville and Rose went to Arizona for the winter, and belonged to the Parkside Senior's club. He was hard working, and extremely proud of his family. We will treasure our memories and keep him close in our hearts.
