Obituary of John Freidrich Kuxhaus

John Kuxhaus January 29, 1934 - March 27, 2018 John Freidrich Kuxhaus was born January 29, 1934 at Duval, SK and passed away on March 27, 2018 Prince Albert, SK at the age of 84 years. Funeral Services were held on Saturday March 31, 2018 at 1:00 pm. at the Big River Community Hall, Big River, SK with Pastor Dave Whalley officiating and the organist was Julie Price. Interment took place in the Big River Cemetery. John’s children Paul, Gina and Cory delivered the eulogy for their dad, Gary Anderson served as Urn Bearer and “All those who shared in John’s life” were considered Honorary Pallbearers. A time of luncheon and sharing of memories followed the services at the Big River Community Hall. John attended country schools as a small boy and graduated high school in Strasbourg, SK. He went to teachers college in Moose Jaw and taught in many small towns before settling at Big River, SK in 1970. It was in Big River where John and Dorothy raised their three children Paul, Gina and Cory. John changed his career from teaching to operation of School Bus business. He spent many winters as a rink caretaker. In 1982 John became mayor of Big River a position he held with great pride for 12 years until 1994, he remained on council until 2006. He was also a member of the volunteer fire department and belonged to the Kinsmen club. John enjoyed travelling and camping with his family. He spent his winters curling and watching his grandsons play hockey. He will be remembered by all who knew him for his loving nature and most of all his smile. John is lovingly remembered by: his wife of 53 years, Dorothy, his children and their families: Paul (Bonnie) and their children Riley & Kyra, Gina (Gary) and their children Huston (Paige) and children Hunter & Hendrix, Levi (Chelsey), Colton (Sonia) and son Herschel, Cory (Kerri) and their children Breanne (Travis), Raylene and daughter Pyper, Ally, siblings, Albert (Marjorie) Duval; Edna (Merle) Lloyd also numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He is predeceased by: his parents, Alexander and Maria Kuxhaus. Friends so wishing may make memorial contributions to the Lakewood Lodge Auxiliary in memory of John Kuxhaus as tokens of remembrance.
