Obituary of Lois Anne Pedersen- Deault

Lois Anne Pedersen-Deault passed away peacefully with her family by her side in Calgary, Alberta on April 1, 2018 at the age of 71 years. Lois was born on March 27, 1947 in Carrot River, Saskatchewan and was raised in nearby Jordan River by the late Howatt and Elva Bell. She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters, Irene (Pat) Personius, Dorothy (Willie) Klettberg, and Ruth (predeceased by Mack) Macdonald. Lois married Hans Pedersen in 1967, and they raised three children: Wayne Pedersen (Teresa Sutherland), Joanne (Darrin) Turnbull, and Brenda (Scott) Lavalley. Many family memories were made at their house on Gillmor Crescent, Prince Albert, SK and at their lake front cabin on Christopher Lake, SK. Together, Hans and Lois owned and operated The Well Steak and Salad Crock Restaurant, Ed’s Inn Catering, and Roots Restaurant until Hans passed away in 1985 at the age of 39. A few years later, Lois refocused her energy to manage Ed’s Inn and creatively found new ways to enhance the business. She catered countless events in PA, hosted memorable weddings in the hall and prepared tasty home style dishes for Ed’s Inn's Sunday Suppers. This would not have been possible without the dedicated team of employees who also became part of her family. Lois married Robert Deault on January 2, 1988. She was welcomed into the Deault family with open arms by Robert’s sisters, brothers and three children: Rachelle Deault (Roger Thiessen), Angel (Leo) Denis and Alain (Kerry) Deault. Robert sadly passed away one month before Lois on March 2, 2018 at the age of 77. Lois and Robert enjoyed travelling to the Caribbean, playing cards, visiting family, attending church, watching movies and relaxing after a long day of work. After they retired from Ed’s Inn, Lois’s passion for cooking continued at various remote camps, Kinasao Lutheran Bible Camp, and at the PA Metis Addictions Council. Lois and Robert moved into the Christopher Lake Seniors’ Manor, which provided a place for Lois to make new friends, be close to nature and tend a garden that expanded every year. She loved eating fresh garden vegetables, organic food, going to the local farmers' market, reading, trying new recipes and learning about natural healing remedies. Lois enjoyed spending time with her 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces who will dearly miss her kindness and love. Lois found strength in God, her family, her friends and various support groups who helped her endure a courageous battle with cancer. Thank you to the amazing and compassionate staff that cared for Lois in her final days at Rosedale Hospice in Calgary, Alberta. A Celebration of Lois’s Life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Messiah Lutheran Church 1796 15th Ave East, Prince Albert, SK with Pastor Íris Kristjánsdóttir officiating. Interment will follow at South Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Lois would be honored to have donations in memory of her be directed to the Kinasao Lutheran Bible Camp - Box 327, Christopher Lake, SK, S0J 0N0. Family and friends wishing to send online condolences are welcome to visit www.beaulacfuneralhome.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Beau “Lac” Funeral Home, Marianne Turcotte, Funeral Director, Prince Albert, SK 306-763-3322.
