Morris Moberg
February 20th, 1945 - April 12th, 2018
It is with great sadness that the family of Morris Moberg announce his passing on April 12th, 2018. Morris was predeceased by his wife Colleen, his parents Eric and Cecilia Moberg, sister Caroline Hoback, brother-in-law Ivar Hoback, sister-in-law Lynda Moberg, his wife’s parents, Kasper and Serena Knutson, Brother-in-law, Alan and his wife Judy Knutson, Brother-in-law, Leon Knutson, Sister-in-Law, Bea Knutson.
Morris was born February 20th, 1945 and grew up on the farm in Valbrand with his siblings Caroline, Marvin and Colette. He taught himself to play the guitar as a young teenager and it became a lifelong passion. He played in several bands over the years, notably his first band “The Melody Marverick’s “ with his brother Marvin and cousin Ed Sten and several other local musicians who joined them over the years. He and his wife Colleen were the band named “Northern Pride” and he played with the band “Eagle Creek”. Morris had a complete music recording studio and he was also a talented woodworker and carpenter.
He married Colleen Knutson November 7th, 1969 in Trail B.C. Morris and Colleen shared a love not only for each other and their daughter Melodee but also a love of music. They performed together on many stages in their lives. They returned home to Saskatchewan in the early 1970’s finally settling in the home that Morris lived in until his passing. The house was built by Morris with the help of his father Eric Moberg and Father-in-law Kasper Knutson.
Morris will be remembered with much love by his daughter Melodee, son-in-law Dwight Diehl of Ordale, SK, grandchildren Adam Diehl and his son Carter; Cody Diehl and Kaylee (Joel) Buckingham. His brother Marvin Moberg, and sister Colette (Gilles) Pelletier. His nieces and nephews; Devin (Kate) Moberg and their children Alyssa, Darian Farkas, Annika and Martina Moberg; Jason (Allie), sons Aiden and Elliot; Michael (Annelot Van Riek) Pelletier, Marc Pelletier and Brad (Katrina Lee) Pelletier; Brendon (Karen) Hoback, Debbie (Julian) Veuger and their children Daniel, Christian and Melissa; D’arcy (Rick) Silas, and their daughter, Kashmere; Randy (Jerri) Hoback and their children, Alysia and Brock; Tammy (Dan) Moreland and their son, Dawson. His brother-in-law, Ken Knutson and several Knutson nieces and nephews.
The Funeral service was held on Tuesday April 17th, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Canwood Elk’s Community Hall, Canwood Sask. The eulogist was Colette Pelletier. The Pallbearers were, Adam Diehl, Kaylee Buckingham, Larry Johnson, Cody Diehl, Joel Buckingham and Jason Moberg. There will be an interment at a later date.
The family would like to express a special thank-you to the nurses and all the health care staff at the Parkland Integrated Health Centre in Shellbrook where he was treated with great compassion and respect. Thank-you to Pastor Chris Dean for his visits in hospital and for presiding at the funeral. A special thank-you to Morris’s cousin Lorraine Johnson for the lunch after the service and for the many things that you have done for Morris over the years. A special thank-you to Donna Lovberg and all the staff at Beau “Lac” Funeral Home for making a difficult task much easier to bear.
