Richard moved back to Dore Lake to keep his mom company after his dad died. He did commercial fishing with his uncle for a number of years. He then went on to work as assistant maintenance man for the hamlet. Since then, he kept busy doing mechanical work on his various vehicles, running his skid steer to make trails and smooth the road, planting fruit trees, cutting firewood and feeding the birds. He loved the outdoors and life in the wilderness. He was an avid walker on the trails, accompanied by his beloved cats. An informal outdoor memorial will take place in the summer.
