Obituary of Carl Leslie Klassen

Carl L. Klassen January 29, 1958 - May 29, 2018 Carl Leslie Klassen of Glenbush, SK passed away unexpectedly on May 29, 2018 at the age of 60. Carl was born on January 29, 1958 in Herbert, SK to John and Elizabeth Klassen. His growing up years in Herbert included spending time with his two sisters Josie and Charlene, being a wrangler at West Bank Bible Camp, playing sports with friends, working for local farmers, helping build the Herbert Nursing home dining hall, and cruising around town in his white Pontiac, Bertha. Carl’s relationship with the Lord was always an important part of his life. He accepted the Lord as his personal saviour in his childhood, baptized as a teenager and always loved spending time at youth group. After graduating high school, Carl attended Bethany Bible Institute for one year. After Bethany he moved to Saskatoon where he lived with good friends and worked various jobs. It was in Saskatoon where he met and fell in love with Marjorie Pauls from Glenbush. They were married June 6, 1981. After a year and a half of marriage they moved to the Pauls family dairy farm which he eventually took over in 1990. They had four children Rachel, Eric, Jenny and Hillary. The family worked together with the help of hired hands on the dairy farm until selling the dairy in 2001. Life then would turn to raising beef cattle for a couple of years. After some hardship in the beef industry Carl worked various jobs, working at a pig barn, hauling camper trailers, working at a chicken farm, at a tire shop in Spiritwood and driving truck. One of Carl’s favourite things was music, especially southern gospel groups with nice harmonies. In the last few years, he enjoyed going to gospel jamborees. Carl also loved to sing and play guitar, and many will remember his beautiful singing voice. His family was a source of joy and pride, especially since becoming a grandpa. He welcomed three more children into his family through marriage and loved what they added to his growing family. He lived for times when he could see pictures and videos of his family, especially of the grandchildren. He had many close cousins and friends near and far. He was always involved in Glenbush MB Church and the people there have always been a special part of his life. He is survived by his wife Marjorie of almost 37 years. His children, Rachel and Ryan Wiebe; and their children Elizabeth, Josiah and David; Eric and Melissa Klassen; Jennifer Klassen; Hillary and Daniel Kroeker and their children, Samuel and Barrett. His sisters and their families; Josie and Danny Caputo and Charlene and Murray Martens. His sisters and brothers-in-law and their families; Walter Pauls, Violet and Samuel Kennedy, Lawrence Pauls, Carol and Richard Rempel, Herbert and Elation Pauls and Gordon and Roxanne Pauls. As well as many cousins and friends. He is pre-deceased by his parents John and Elizabeth Klassen and his father-in-law Peter Pauls. A Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at 1:30 pm at the Medstead Community Hall, Medstead, SK with Pastor Monty Buhler officiating, the pianist was Herbert Pauls, song leader was Randy Klassen and special music was provided by The Braun Brothers, Carl's children delivered the eulogy. Carl’s grandchildren are considered his Honorary Pallbearers and the Active Pallbearers were Greg Siemens, Murray Martens, Phil Pauls, Bernie Harms, Daniel Kroeker and Ryan Wiebe.
