Obituary of Dorothy Margaret Ouellette

The family of Dorothy Ouellette are deeply saddened to announce her passing on March 18, 2008 at the age of 80 years. She was born to Wesley and Margaret Stephenson on March 26, 1927 in the Camp Lake District. When Dorothy grew up, she worked hard on the farm and around the house. At a young age, she got married and had two children. The family moved around a lot and Dorothy worked at Waites Fisheries for a while. After her husband had left, she moved to Shell Lake. In 1954 she married Ed Ouellette and they farmed at Little Shell for a couple of years. They moved to 100 Mile House, BC, but came back and bought a farm north of Shell Lake. Dorothy enjoyed dancing, visiting, gardening, knitting and quilting. Dorothy's health took a turn for the worse and she spent time in Shellbrook and Spiritwood Hospitals until her passing. Dorothy is lovingly remembered by her husband Ed Ouellette of Shell Lake, SK; her son Ed (Dolores) Watier of Shell Lake, SK; her brothers James Stephenson of Rabbit Lake, SK and Ralph (Pearl) Stephenson of Shell Lake, SK as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and countless friends. Dorothy was predeceased by her daughter Doris Watier, her parents Wesley and Margaret Stephenson, her mother and father in-law Gabe and Eloise Ouellette, her nephew Steven Stephenson, her sister in-law Laurie Johnstone, her brothers in-law Morris Ouellette and Norman Johnstone. The funeral service was held on Monday, March 24th, 2008 at 2 p.m. from the Shell Lake Lions Hall with Rev. David Jensen as the officiant. The eulogy was read by Sharon Watson. The music director was Bill Martodam who played the hymns In The Garden and Amazing Grace. There also was a soloist, Wilford Ledoux, who sang Dear Mother Goodbye and Precious Auntie Take My Hand. All relatives and friends who shared in Dorothy's life were the honorary pall bearers and the urn bearer was Pat Johnstone. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shell Lake Cemetery Fund. Dorothy will be laid to rest in the Shell Lake Cemetery at a later date.
