Obituary of Louis Larrivee

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear brother Louis, who past away with dignity and grace after a long and courageous battle with cancer at the Spiritwood and District Health Complex at 4:55 a.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at the age of 58 years. Louis was born in Spiritwood on September 19, 1949 to Oscar and Albina Larrivee. At the young age of 16 years, Louis went to work at a saw mill in Burns Lake, BC. Then he came back to the farm for a while before going to work at Enco Mine in Thompson, MB where he worked for 2 years. While working in the oil rigs, the bunk house blew up with Louis in it. But by a miracle of God, Louis walked out after the explosion. His co-workers thought Louis was a ghost walking toward them. Louis worked at various construction jobs and seen a lot of the world by driving 18-wheelers from coast to coast. While Louis always found time to come home and help his dad on the farm, it was in 1979 when he came back for good.
