Obituary of Marie "Therese" Louise Crossland

Therese Crossland December 2, 1921 - August 25, 2018 Therese Crossland (nee) Orieux was born on Dec 2, 1921 in Shellriver, Sk. and passed away peacefully in her home on August 25, 2018 at the age of 96 years. Therese was the eldest of 14 Children born to Louis & Eva Orieux. As a young girl she learned to bake bread, sew, and grow a garden. On Dec 25, 1941 she married Aime Crossland and together they raised 11 children. After a few years together Therese and her family moved from their small farm in the Leoville area to a mink ranch on Chitek Lake. They lived on their mink ranch until their house burnt in 1964 at which time they moved into the village Chitek Lake. From there Therese continued to bake bread, sew, garden, fry fish, sell cream & eggs and commercial fish with Aime until their retirement. Therese welcomed many grandchildren and great grandchildren in her home for the last 50 plus years. She loved the outdoors, her family and friends and living in Chitek Lake. Therese leaves to cherish her memories; Her children: Agnes (Gary) Sproxton, Edward (Mavis) Crossland, Eva Kostron, Maurice (Ann) Crossland, Claude (Cheryl) Crossland, Alfy (Susan) Crossland, Majella (Norman) Dortman, Harry (Louella) Crossland, Marcel (Gail) Crossland Her sisters: Rita, Margret, Aline Her brothers: Al, Albert, Marcel 36 Grandchildren and 71 great grandchildren She was predeceased by her: husband Aime, parents Louis & Eva Orieux, sisters: Rose, Louisa, Lucy, Yolanda & Marie, brothers: Andrew & Gerry, sons: Roger, Arthur, Andrew, daughter Irene and grandsons: Jarret & Mathew. Funeral Mass was celebrated Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 11:00 am. at Ste. Therese Roman Catholic Church, Leoville, SK with Father Peter Nnanga MSP as celebrant. Cross Bearers were Sonya Lavallee & Tatianna Fetch. Candle Bearers were David Kostron & Tashina Crossland. The funeral pall was placed by Agnes Sproxton, Eva Kostron and Majella Dortman. Readings were read by Majella Dortman and Alfy Crossland. Prayers of the faithful were read by Giles Turner & Nadine Crossland. Rita Gaudette, Aline L’Heureux, Al, Albert & Marcel Orieux brought the offertory into the church. Music ministry was provided by Phil Marion, Alfy, Harry & Louella Crossland. The Eulogy was given by Aline Beckett, Nadia Lehman, Stacy Crossland, Morgan Crossland, Rachel Dortman & Deljorah Crossland. Therese’ final resting place is beside her beloved husband in the Peaceful Pines Cemetery, Chitek Lake, SK. Following the interment, the family invited all present for lunch and fellowship in the Chitek Lake Community Hall.
