Obituary of Edward Joseph Ouellette

It is with deep regret that the family of Ed Ouellette announces his sudden passing on April 19, 2008 at the age of 78 years. He was born in Leask, SK and grew up in the Dumour District. Ed helped on the farm and rode horse-back to the Moulin School. Around 1943/1944 he moved to Shell Lake and worked for a highway survey crew. In 1954, Ed met and married Dorothy Watier and they farmed by Little Shell Lake. Then they moved to 100 Mile House in BC where Ed ran a fork lift and Dorothy cooked at a saw mill camp. When the family came back, they sold the farm and bought land north of Shell Lake. Here, they farmed and Ed also bought a truck and loader. With this equipment, he did commercial work for a while. In the later years, he semi-retired until his health started to fail. Ed is lovingly remembered by his stepson Ed (Dolores) Watier of Shell Lake, SK; his brothers in-law James Stephenson of Rabbit Lake, SK and Ralph (Pearl) Stephenson of Shell Lake, SK as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and countless friends. Ed was predeceased by his loving wife Dorothy Ouellette; his parents Gabe and Eloise Ouellette; his sister Laura (Norman) Johnstone; his brother Morris Ouellette; his mother and father in-law Margaret and Wesley Stephenson. The funeral service will be held on Monday, April 28th, 2008 at 2 p.m. from the Shell Lake Lions Hall with Rev. David Jensen officiating. The soloists will be Gilles Francoeur and Wilfred Ledoux plus a duet will be performed by Wilfred Ledoux and Connie Mike. The honorary pall bearers will be all of Ed's relatives and friends who were in his life and the urn bearer will be Pat Johnstone. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shell Lake Cemetery Fund. Ed will be laid to rest in the Shell Lake Cemetery at a later date.
