Obituary of Keith Reginald Simonar
Keith Reginald Simonar was born February 25, 1939 in Prince Albert. Keith was son to Louis and Grace Simonar. He was the last of 3 children, raised on the farm in rural Shell Lake. Keith and Warren helped on the farm, as well as threshing for all the farmers in the area. In 1959 he met Lois at a wedding dance in Shell Lake. Keith married the love of his life at the United Church in Shell Lake on June 30,1960. On December 9, 1963 they were blessed with their son Stuart, then on August 13, 1965 came along their daughter Valerie. He worked at various jobs in the early years truck driving, mechanic, and more until 1969. July 27, 1970, he started with the Dept of Highways. March 31, 1998, he retired from highways with 28 years behind him. Then he joined the Memorial Lake Regional Park as a supervisor of maintenance for or 3 years. He loved being at the co-op! I think eventually he was there so much they asked him to work part time, putting stuff together and helping load for deliveries. Then he was in his glory, which lasted for around 10 years! He tackled work and life with enthusiasm and pride. Having a shear determination to fix anything. He held great honor in being helpful and never refused to lend a hand to anyone. Keith had many passions in his life, the greatest was his family. He was a husband, companion, best friend, champion, Dad and the Best Grandpa Ever! Our hearts are breaking with the emptiness, knowing he would repair these cracks with glue, haywire, binder twine, duct tape, and big hug and a kiss. He will be missed greatly, each and everyday. Keith is lovingly remembered by: his wife, Lois, his children: Stuart (Leanne Starblanket) of Prince Albert, SK and his children: Tiana, Brock and Amber, step-granddaughter, Jayda; Valerie (Merv Dust) of Shell Lake, SK, his sister, Ina (Homer) Good of Grand Forks, BC, his sisters-in-law: Della (James) Schira of Spiritwood, SK, Judy Neufeld of Hague, SK, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is predeceased by: his parents, Louis and Grace Simonar, his brother, Warren (Erma) Simonar, his parents-in-law, Grant and Marion West, his son-in-law, Jack Chaykowski, his granddaughter, Angela Rose Chaykowski, his siblings-in-law, Gordon West and Liz West.
