Obituary of AUDREY GRENDAHL

GRENDAHL- Audrey Phyllis Grendahl, late of Parkside, SK. went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at the age of 81 years. Audrey was born on the farm near Parkside, SK. on Feb. 28, 1927 to Norman and Alice Martin. She had one brother, Clarence, who predeceased her in 1980. Audrey attended the Parkside School. After she finished school she went to work for Walter & Ruth Johnson helping to take care of their family. She then was employed at the Parkside Creamery until she married George in 1947. George and Audrey lived on a farm south of Parkside where their two daughters, Marie and Kathy, completed their family. In 1956 they moved to British Columbia for a short time. In 1957 they retunred to Parkside. Audrey worked at MacAskill's Store in Parkside and later in the Shellbrook Schools doing custodial work. In 2003, George and Audrey sold their home and moved uptown, where they have resided until Audrey's passing. Audrey's favorite past times were baking, canning, camping and especially fishing. She always wanted to catch "one more" fish when it was time to go. "Auntie Audrey" always had a tin of cookies on hand to spoil her great niece and nephews. She was always eager to travel to BC to visit her "girls" and their families. In recent years Audrey experienced continuing and accelerating poor health, but through this time she continued her determination to get well and do the things she loved to do. Her visit to the coast this past Christmas to spend time with her family is only one example of this strong will. After many trips to Shellbrook Hospital in the last two months, on May 12 she moved to respite care in Canwood Whispering Pine Place Nursing Home. Forty five hours later she decided to move on to her eternal home in heaven. Audrey will always be a lasting influence on her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Audrey will be deeply missed by: her loving husband, George Grendahl of Parkside, SK., her daughters: Marie (Bill) Bakken of Richmond, BC., Kathy Tingstad of Langley, BC., Her grandchildren: Trevor (Michelle) Bakken and their children, Taylor, Bowen and Colton all of Richmond, BC. ,Trent (Nancy) Bakken and their children, Jacob and Saige of Cloverdale, BC., Carl (Rina) Tingstad and their son, Mattias of Cloverdale, BC., Arne (Wendy) Tingstad and their daughter, Ava of Edmonton, AB., Jana (Matt) Mei of Vancouver, BC., A sister-in-law: Phyllis Grendahl of Richmond, BC., Two Nephews: Darrel (Glenys) Martin of Parkside, SK., Tim (Kristi) Martin of Parkside, SK. as well as numerous other relatives.
