Obituary of Dora Vivian Doucette

It is with great sadness that the Doucette family announces the passing of Dora on May 17, 2008 at the age of 80 years. Dora was born in Swift Current, SK on September 30, 927 to Sophie and Francis Neilson. She was the youngest of seven children. The family moved to Prince Albert, SK for a few years and when Dora was twelve years old, they moved to Bodmin. She met Dona Doucette and they were married on November 26, 1943. They had four children Melvin, Annette, Gordon and Paul and were happily married for 61 years. She loved camping, curling, bingo, reading and playing cards. Dora was a wonderful caring person and will be sadly missed by all who knew her and loved her. Dora leaves to cherish her memory her three sons Melvin (Anne) Doucette of Watson Lake, Yukon; Gordon (Marion) Doucette of Mackenzie, BC; and Paul (Eileen) Doucette of Big River, SK; 19 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Dona, her daughter Annette, her parents Francis and Sophie Neilson, 5 brothers and 1 sister. The funeral service was celebrated on Friday, May 23rd, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Big River, SK with Rev. Fr. Anthony Pangan as the celebrant. The Big River Community Choir was accompanied by Paulette Cooper on the organ. The eulogy was given by Mark and Kara Doucette and the honorary pall bearers were all relatives and friends who shared in Dora's life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lakewood Lodge Auxiliary. The urn bearers were her children Melvin, Gordon and Paul. Dora was laid to rest in the Big River Cemetery.
