With Lots of Love...
For our dear Elmina (Paulhus) St. Amand and family, friends, dear ones
My Aunty Elmina went to sleep the other day...
That is when God took her away.
Even though for us
she is not really gone...
Because our memories and love
will forever go on...
Now she is waiting ...
For us up in heaven.
United with all of her loved ones...
Probably laughing and dancing.
She will be watching ...
what is happening to us here...
She’ll always have ...
her dear family near.
Laughter, table times, and family stories...
remind us of how things ‘were’.
Our memories are now more precious
...and will keep us close to her.
She was such a strong ‘mama’...
(Though she might not agree)...
She loved her family so much...
...that is all that we could see.
No matter how hard ...
and painful life was...
She made it through trials ...
and came back to us.
But this time Aunty Elmina...
was given God’s grace.
He took her in her sleep...
To His very special place...
Heaven is our reward...
for all we’ve done here on earth...
Aunty Elmina did a lot!
A mother to so many - not all by birth
But of all the things ...
Aunty Elmina is known for...
The most welcoming memory,
... is her open door.
Whether in the city ...
Or out at Emma Lake...
Come in and sit down ...
For a yummy glass of Kool-Aid!
Play some cards...
Or just have a chat ...
The St.Amand house ...
was ‘the place to be at’!!!
Even though I didn’t get to visit
as much as I wanted to...
When my family came to P.A.
We visited lots (with your family and you) !!!
She’d tell you about things and
her laughter burst free...
Contagious for listeners...
Friends and family.
Every meal was an event...
at the St.Amand home.
With family, friends, and food...
Don’t forget the niblets corn
But the greatest of memories...
Happened at Emma Lake...
The St.Amands were ‘famous’ ...
For goodness sake!!!
Sitting with my Aunty Elmina...
and her sister - my mom...
Was a really special time for me ...
and so much fun!!!
They looked alike,
they sounded alike,
their sister-love was real...
Even in later years...
Their phone chats
meant a great deal!
We know you are not alone up there...
What a reunion in heaven there must be...
With your grandparents, parents, and siblings,
special friends and family
Know we are honouring you Aunty Elmina...
Trying to celebrate you with laughter and love
We know you are finally at peace...
and watching over us from above.
Until we see you again...
You are with us every day... Amen
