Olive was my dear friend at Candle Lake. On my moving to Candle Lake in 2001, Olive was one of my Holiday Acres neighbours who became an instant friend. Her smile and friendly nature brightened up every visit. She loved working in her yard and made a pet of one of the female deer which frequented her back deck. She named the deer Sunshine and was able to pet this deer just about every day and give her a special treat. The memory of Olive of which I have recalled so many times is how when Olive and I made our shopping trips to Prince Albert together I would put in one of my favourite CD’s and we would pretty well sing all the way home. Our favourite song was John Prine’s goofy kind of song “That’s the Way That the World Goes Round”. The first time I played it for Olive she laughed herself to tears. These are memories I will always hold dear.
My sincere condolences to all of you with the loss of your mother, grandmother and great grandmother. I will remember my dear friend, Olive. My thoughts are with you.
