Obituary of Eva Heisler
Eva Heisler
August 9, 1942 - June 22, 2019
Eva was born on August 9, 1942 in the Hurricane District, south of Mildred and for 76 years, she led a blessed and fulfilling life until her passing on June 22, 2019 in Saskatoon, SK. Eva was the second child of 9 children born to Abe and Anna Friesen (nee Wiebe). She attended Hurricane School along with her siblings. Eva met Harold “Sam” Heisler when he worked for Mildred and Pat Heisler near her home. They were married in Mildred on November 4, 1961 and they were blessed with 3 children, Larry, Gerald, and Sherry. She had many good years with Sam until his passing in December of 1999. Eva was no stranger to hard work. She always worked outside the home and she also raised chickens, helped Sam with his cattle, tended her garden, canned fruits and vegetables, baked bread, pies, cookies and fried a ton of fish! One never left her house hungry. She is best remembered for her German Noodles, her bread and fried fish! While working at Grandpa Sam’s Family Restaurant in Lanigan, she baked well over 1000 pies in the 9 years she was there and she loved every minute of it. People travelling through the province would call ahead to order one of her pies. In 2016 she moved back to Spiritwood and soon reacquainted with old friends and made some very dear, new friends who welcomed her with open arms and brought so much joy to her life. She looked forward to her coffee time with them every day at 2:00. Eva enjoyed helping out the Ladies Lodge Auxiliary, and also volunteering her time to the exercise program at the Long Term Health Care and the Nu2U Charity shop in town. One of her favorite things to do was to bake bread, cookies and any recipe she found on Facebook then delivering them to her kids and grandchildren to try out. Her greatest joys in life were her family. Every spare minute was spent making memories with her siblings, children, and great grandchildren and we will cherish those memories forever.
Eva is lovingly remembered by her children: Larry (Anne) Heisler and family: Dustin (Amy), Dylan and his son, Aaryan, Gerald (Patty) Heisler and family: Jordan, Michael (Brittany) and their son, Taylor, Elliot, Sherry (Bob) Colhoun and family: Jordan (Kallie) and children, Brynley, Beck, and Adley, Bryce (Laurie) and children, Aiden, Neala, Priya, and Porter, Brook, Riley (Diamond) and Riana, Her siblings: Clarence (Pat), Norman (Kathy), Norma Jean (Gary), Roseann(George), Evelyn (Dave), Erma (Dave), and her sister-in-law, Mary, her sisters-in-law, Sister Julianna Heisler, and Jean Heisler also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
