Obituary of Evelyn Henry

HENRY- Mrs. Evelyn Henry, late of Shellbrook, passed away in Royal University hospital in Saskatoon on Wednesday, August 6, 2008. Evelyn was born on August 18, 1932 and has lived her life in Foxdale and Shellbrook. She loved her farm life and at the age of 21, married Bruce Henry. They lived and worked on their farm until 1990 when they built a new home and moved to Shellbrook where she lived the rest of her life. Evelyn regularly attended Knox United Church, sang in the Church choir and was a dedicated member of the U.C.W. She took pride in her cooking and baking, tending her vegetable and flower garden, and enjoyed reading. She preferred books of autobiographies, true life events, and rural living. Evelyn was strong in faith, and found comfort in her Christian beliefs. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her family and friends. Evelyn leaves to mourn, her husband, Bruce Henry of Shellbrook; her daughter, Diane (Andrew) Gilchrist of Elie, MB; a brother, Robert (Florence) McWhirter of Saskatoon; her brother-in-law Jim (Edith) Henry of Shellbrook; a sister-in-law Isabella Henry of Shellbrook; an aunt Dorothy Earby of Shellbrook; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws. She was predeceased by her parents, Norman and Olive Pugh; a sister, Freida Bruce; her brothers-in-law George Bruce, Robert Henry, William Henry; a sister-in-law, Olga Henry. The funeral service was held at Knox United Church in Shellbrook on Saturday, Sept. 6 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Roland Legge as officiant. The eulogy was given by Diane Henry-Gilchrist. The organist was David Hjertaas, the soloist was Pat Sonntag, and the hymns were sung by the Shellbrook Community Choir. A poem was read by Bev Roberts, and the urn-bearer was Andrew Gilchrist. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Interment was in Memorial Gardens, Prince Albert.
