Obituary of Muriel Isobella Lucier

The family of Muriel Lucier are deeply saddened to announce her passing on Friday, August 15th, 2008 at the age of 87 years. She was born in Vancouver, BC to William and May Mowatt. Bud, Virginia, Peter, Patrina and Ray were the siblings that shared in the joys of childhood. Her journey through life brought her to Saskatchewan as her family searched for fresh new beginnings. Muriel met her future husband Louie Lucier when he was working as a helper on a nearby farm. In December 1938 they married. Their 47 year marriage was blessed with six amazing children: Amos, Stan, Ron, Suzie, Sharon and Edward. Raising six children was difficult as times were tough and money was sparse. Muriel ensured important lessons such as hard work, honesty and sincerity were instilled in her children at a very young age. As her children grew and moved away, Muriel poured her heart and soul into her work, her garden and her beloved dog, Skippy. As days went by and years passed, Muriel's memory was stolen from her by Alzheimer's disease. Muriel is lovingly remembered by her children Amos (Julie) Lucier of Edmonton, AB, Stanley Lucier of Lloydminster, SK, Ronald (Teri) Lucier of Vancouver, BC, Sharon (Robert) Larrivee of Leoville, SK and Edward (Donna) Lucier of Morden, MB, her son in-law Omer Larrivee of Calgary, AB, 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, her sisters Virginia Lalonde of Saskatoon, SK, Petrina Joanette of Calgary, AB, her sister in-law Edith Johnson of Prince George, BC, her brother Raymond (Lorraine) Johnson of Williams Lake, BC as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband Louie in 1985, her daughter Suzanne Larrivee in 2007, her brothers Peter and Bud, her brothers in-law Victor Lalonde and Wilfred Joanette. The funeral service was held on Wednesday, August 20th, 2008 at 11 a.m. from St. Therese R. C. Church, Leoville, SK with Rev. Leigh Sinclair as the officiant. The eulogy was read by Karen Larrivee. Doris Daniels was the organist and the soloist was Gilles Francoeur who sang Release Me To God and The Old Rugged Cross. Other congregational hymns were Just A Closer Walk With Thee and Church In The Wildwood. Honorary pall bearers were all relatives and friends who shared in Muriel's life and the active pall bearers were Cindy Lucier, Tammi Lucier, Sherri-Lynn Lucier, Karen Larrivee, Donna Larrivee, Shawna Larrivee, Teresa Lucier and Gerald Watson. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan or Breast Cancer Research. Muriel was laid to rest in the Leoville Cemetery.
