Obituary of Ronald Joseph Skalicky
It is with deep regret that the family of Ron Skalicky announces his sudden passing on Wednesday evening, August 20, 2008 at the age of 74 years. He was the first son of Rose and Joseph Skalicky and second child in a family of eight. He was born on July 11, 1934 in Humboldt SK. Ron enjoyed a variety of careers from welding, bulk fuel delivery, car sales, salvage yard, jail guard and eventually mixed farming. His real passion was sports. Fishing and hunting were at the top of his list. He encountered many people through his trips. Ron is lovingly remembered by his children Debra Hodgson Burkart of Humboldt, SK and her children Mathew Hodgson of Rocky Mountain House, AB, Lisa Burkart of Humboldt, SK and Vanessa Burkart of Humboldt, SK; Linda (Brian) Berscheid of Debden, SK and their children Tara (Will) Bick of Debden, SK, Jaclyn Berscheid of Saskatoon, SK, Kendra Berscheid of Debden, SK and Leah Berscheid of Debden, SK; Nicole Skalicky of Saskatoon, SK and Joseph Skalicky of Edmonton, AB; his sisters and brothers Evelyn Schuler of Saskatoon, SK, Elmer Skalicky of Prince Albert, SK, Maury (Bernie) Skalicky of Lac La Hache, BC, Shirley (Gunnar) Tingvoll of Surrey, BC and Danny (Elizabeth) Skalicky of Kamloops, BC; his sister in-law Edna Skalicky of Prince Albert, SK as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Jacqueline Skalicky, his son Randy Skalicky, his parents Joseph and Rose Skalicky, his brothers Joe and Kenny Skalicky, his brother in-law Ben Schuler and his father and mother in-law Jack and Mary Demery. The prayer service was held on Monday, August 25th, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, August 26th, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. both from St. Jean Baptiste R. C. Church in Debden, SK. Rev. Fr. Bernabe Millan Sajonas was the celebrant. The choir director was Louise Marchildon and the pianist was Ryan Berscheid. A solo was performed by Emile Tetreault and the eulogy was read by Mathew Hodgson. The cross bearers were Tyler Couture and Landen Couture. Honorary pall bearers were all relatives and friends who shared in Ron's life and the urn bearer was Maury Skalicky. In lieu of flowers, a collection was taken during mass with half the memorial donations going to the Debden Personal Care Home and half to the Debden Cemetery Fund. Ron was laid to rest in the Debden Cemetery.
