Obituary of Margaret Szabo

The family of Margaret Szabo are deeply saddened to announce her passing on September 13, 2008 at the age of 86 years. She was born in Hungary to James Bodnar and Rozalia Radvanyi. Margaret immigrated to Canada in 1927 and settled south of Spiritwood where she met Mike Szabo. They married in 1938 and spent 51 wonderful years together. Margaret had many hobbies and interests such as gardening, cooking, crocheting and sewing. She enjoyed visiting and playing games with her many family and friends and was grateful she had the opportunity to travel throughout Canada and the U.S. and recently two trips back to her homeland. She will be forever remembered by her family for the love she gave each and every one and for her generosity and her ever ready smile. She will live forever in the hearts of her children. Margaret is lovingly remembered by her children Frank (Rosemarie) Szabo of Spiritwood, SK and their children Carolyn (Allan) Hoffert and their children Michael and Alyssa, Heather Szabo and her son Declan and Christal (Jason) Fee and their children Ashley and Carter; Irene (Louis) Marion of Spiritwood, SK and their children Sherylann (Michael) Skelton and their children Jordan, Adrian and Kiersten, Nicole (Lanny) Lee and their children Dominic and Leif, Kerri Marion, and Colin (Amanda) Marion and their son Jackson; Diana (Kim) Tiringer of Spiritwood, SK and their children Chad Tiringer (Lindsay Ewanchuk) and Brandi (Jeff) Lendvay; her nieces Beth Szlachetka and Patricia Szlachetka, her nephew James Szlachetka (Alma) and their children Samantha and Mitchell as well as numerous cousins and many friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband Mike in 1989, her daughter Mary in 2003, her sister Rose (Roger) Szlachetka, her brother James Bodnar and her parents James and Rozalia Bodnar. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, September 18th, 2008 at 10 a.m. from the Sacred Heart R. C. Church in Spiritwood with Rev. Fr. Paul DeGuzman as the celebrant. Jordan Skelton was the cross bearer and the eulogy was read by Carolyn Hoffert. The organist and music director was Bill Martodam and the soloists were Riley Siebert and Shantaia Poulin. Honorary pall bearers were all relatives and friends who shared in Margaret's life and the urn bearer was Michael Hoffert. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Spiritwood Health Complex Foundation or the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation-Prairies NWT Chapter. Margaret was laid to rest in the Spiritwood Cemetery.
