Obituary of Anne Penner

Peacefully on December 3, 2019, about a month after her 91st birthday, Anne Penner passed away at Mont St. Joseph Home in Prince Albert, SK. Anne was born in Miami, Manitoba on November 1, 1928 to Peter and Agatha Reimer (nee: Wolf). She had four sisters and six brothers. Anne’s family moved to Morden, MB and then Winnipeg, MB where she met Henry Penner and was married in 1948. Anne worked with Henry diligently as Pastor’s wife and helper doing church planting for the Mennonite General Conference Home Mission Board in USA and Canada. Anne love sewing and tailored suits and clothing to help the family income. She then added a knitting machine and became very proficient, also making many gifts for her kids and grandkids. At Bethal Place in Winnipeg, she started making blankets for MCC and then involved many other people. Within the first 5 years, over 1000 blankets went to MCC from there. This tradition has continued. Anne is lovingly remembered by her children: Charlene Penner of Ramona, California; Nanette (James) Klassen of Meath Park, SK; Gwen Penner (David Grabill) of Kitchener, ON. 13 grandchildren, 10 great- grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and 3 sisters.
