Obituary of Paul Garand

Paul Adelard Garand Paul passed away peacefully December 27, 2019 at the age of 89 years. Paul was predeceased by his loving wife of 66 years, Olive. Leaving to mourn are his four sons: Dennis (Linda) Garand, Robert (Gloria) Garand, Allan (Brenda) Garand and Lyle (Laury) Garand; his grandchildren, Danielle (Andrew Woodhouse) Garand, Ryan (Amanda) Garand, Christopher (Ingrid) Garand, Brianne (Rocky) Fraese, Karlee Garand, Joel (Arijana) Garand, Kevin Garand and Chauntal (Brent Kennedy) Garand; as well as six great-grandchildren. Paul married Olive in 1951 and promptly left the farm in Leask to start a family and to find his fortunes in the big city (Prince Albert). He often said that the reason he did not stay with the farm is that crops don’t grow on rocks. His career path in P.A. brought him from buying cars and reselling to friends, neighbors and acquaintances and working for a short stint at Burns shaking hides (which he quickly discovered was not for him). Then, eventually into the Real Estate business in the late 50’s until his retirement after spending over 50 years in the industry. After retirement he dabbled in the car market once again until he and Mom moved back to P.A. We will always remember his enjoyment and twinkle in his eyes when he was “making deals”. Paul touched the lives of many and will be sadly missed. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Linda and the Staff of Good Shepherd Villas and the Doctors, Nurses and Staff at the Victoria Union Hospital. A Private Family Service will be held. In lieu of other tributes, donations in memory of Paul may be made to Parkinson Canada, #110B – 2103 Airport Drive, Saskatoon, SK, S7L 6W2. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Beau “Lac” Funeral Home, Lorne Adams, Funeral Director, Prince Albert, SK 306-763-3322.
