Obituary of Wayne Arnold Harris

It is with great sorrow that the family of Wayne Arnold Harris announce his tragic passing in a home fire on his acreage at Debden on October 13, 2008. He was born in Swift Current on January 2, 1963 and attended schools in Carnduff and Watson. Wayne was a journeyman lineman employed by SaskPower at Debden as the district operator for the past twelve years. Wayne's life involved chuckwagon racing, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, recreational hockey, golfing, cards... and friends. He was an avid reader and a capable Scrabble player. His dog, Duke, was an ever present companion over the past twelve years. Wayne leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Kayla Harris of Saskatoon, SK and her mother Cindi McAuley of Carnduff, SK; his mother Isabelle Harris of Prince Albert, SK, his father Arnold "Sandy" Harris of Prince Albert, SK, his sister Kathy (Chris) Saulnier of Saskatoon, SK, his niece Renee Saulnier of Saskatoon, SK, his nephew Brett Saulnier of Saskatoon, SK, his grandmother Gowan "Daisy" McKay of Prince Albert, SK his good friend Brenda Weber-Vansil of Prince Albert, SK; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, a multitude of friends and extended family. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather Douglas McKay, his paternal grandparents Harold and Gertrude Harris, his uncle Jim McKay and his aunt Sue Harris. A celebration of Wayne's life was held on Saturday, October 18th, 2008 at 2 p.m. from St. Jean Baptiste R. C. Church in Debden, SK with Rev. Brian Maitland as the officiant. The organist was David Hjertaas who played the hymns God Be With You and Amazing Grace. The honorary pall bearers were all relatives and friends who shared in Wayne's life and the urn bearer was Kayla Harris. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the choice of the donor. Wayne was laid to rest at St. Mary's Cemetery in Prince Albert.
