Obituary of Lee Kenneth Antonuk

The family of Lee Antonuk are deeply saddened to announce Lee's passing after a lengthy battle with heart disease and recently cancer. Lee passed away at his home surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, October 25, 2008. A Celebration of Lee's Life will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2008 at 3 p.m. from the Round Hall at Meeting Lake Regional Park. All are welcome. Casual dress requested by Lee himself. Lee was born in Saskatoon in November of 1955 and raised on the family farm east of the city, Lee's passion for horses, rodeo, farming and later trucking grew and flourished. He grew up helping his family race and show horses, raise beef and dairy cattle, and farm. As a young man his true passion was rodeo and he struggled to make these two worlds coincide. Later in life Lee traded bull riding for truck driving, hauling livestock across North America, until his health would no longer allow him to do so. Refusing to live out his last in a rocking chair, Lee continued to train horses at home and also took up a job riding as a pen checker for McQueens feedlot in Tessier, Sask, where he stayed until this past summer. Lee is survived by his loving wife of 19 years Yvonne; children Jennifer (Layne) Petersen, and their children Conner and Hunter, Rabbit Lake; Kevin (Michelle) Adair their children Keegan and Mickayla, North Battleford; Merissa, Spiritwood; Kodi, Spiritwood; Jolene Riou, Calgary; his siblings Scott (Kay), Lubbock Texas; Heather (R.D) Darlington, Saskatoon; Todd (Jill), Iredell Texas; numerous nieces and nephews; and Grandma Kusch. Lee is predeceased by his father Ken (1989) and mother Darlene (2007). The family expresses thanks to the doctors and nurses at RUH who cared for Lee, especially Dr. McAllister, who granted Lee his wish of spending his last days at home. We would also like to thank Doris and Tammy from Home Care; Delores from Beau Lac Funeral Home for her kindness and understanding of Lee's cowboy ways; all of those who adjusted their schedules for our family's needs and all the friends and family for their love, support and prayers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
