He is predeceased by his parents, Gerhard and Suse Bargen. His brother Henry (Anne) Bargen, sister Tina Dyck, brothers-in-law Lewis Warkentin, Bill Born, Frank Willems and Jerry Wallace. Jacob (Jake) grew up on the family farm close to Glenbush, the middle of nine children. It was here that his love for farming began. After completing high school in Glenbush he began farming in the summers and attended Bethany Bible Institute in the winters for 3 years. After Bible School he continued farming and worked in North Battleford in the winters. It was during this time that he met his wife to be, Laverne Saccucci. They were married on July 8th, 1967 and moved to the farm near Medstead to begin their life together. Their children were born a few years later with Richard arriving in 1969, Earl in 1972 and Wayne in 1975. Farming was in Jake’s blood, he farmed for his whole career and remained on the farm until his first major stroke in February 2018. He truly farmed until he could no longer, feeding 85 head of cattle that very evening. He loved the land, raising crops and looking after his cattle. Jake also had a special love for horses and broke a fair number in his time. However, much more important than farming was Jake’s love for his wife and family. He desired his family to follow Jesus Christ with all their hearts as he did, he encouraged us all to trust God with every aspect of life. Although far from perfect he truly was a great husband and father. Another large part of Jake’s life was his love of God and his devotion to the Glenbush MB Church. There he volunteered in many roles over the years including teaching children and adult Sunday school, leading children’s clubs and youth groups with Mom and singing in the choir for many years. Jake was a humble Man of God and had the gifts of Encouragement and Helps. He loved to help neighbours in need, whether it was with a broken or stuck piece of farming equipment, helping finishing harvest in trying years or lending a hand to complete many other tasks, he was always willing to help even if his own work had to wait. Jake’s deep faith in God and his trust in Jesus Christ as his saviour gives us immense hope that as he has left behind his tired broken body and is now with his Father in Heaven. He is free and we know we will see him again, Praise God. Our family would like to thank the staff at the Spiritwood Long Term Care Home.
