Obituary of Dennis Robert Epp

Epp, Dennis Robert - The family of Dennis Epp are deeply saddened to announce Dennis' passing on November 29, 2008 at the age of 48 years. Dennis was born on February 5, 1960 in the Rosthern Hospital. He was the fourth child of seven born to Ronald and Betty Epp. The family lived on a farm near Laird, SK, but moved to Belbutte in 1963. Dennis attended school in Medstead and graduated in 1978. After high school, he went to work for Henry Fehr on road construction and stayed there for twelve years. Dennis then worked with various contractors for several years on oil leases. In 1985 he bought a farm near Belbutte and eventually built a house in 1993. Dennis raised cattle and feed crops. He took great pride in butchering and cutting meat for his family. Dennis had many hobbies which included ski-doing and riding his motorcycles. He liked giving rides to others. Dennis also enjoyed working with horses and taking care of his cattle. Farming was his dream occupation and it gave him pleasure to be able to drive combine this fall in spite of his illness. He appreciated all the visits from friends and relatives. Dennis will be lovingly remembered by his parents Ronald and Betty Epp of Spiritwood, SK; his brothers and sisters Lenard Epp of Linden, AB, Albert Epp of Belbutte, SK, Connie Epp of Loon Lake, SK, Elaine (John) Warkenton and their children Jody, Trisha and Amy of Didsbury, AB, Glenn (Liana) Epp and their children Miriam and Justin of Blue Ridge, AB, Peggie (Jeff) Sawatzky and their children Lucy, Karl and Joseph of Didsbury, AB as well as numerous aunts, uncles, other relatives and countless friends. Dennis was predeceased by his grandparents Jacob and Anna Epp and Bernard and Katherine Penner. The funeral service was held on Thursday, December 4th, 2008 at 2 p.m. from the Medstead Community Hall with Rev. Don Unger as the officiant. The pianist was Sharon Janzen who played the congregational hymns Great is Thy Faithfulness and I Know Not Why God's Wondrous. Honorary pall bearers were all relatives and friends who shared in Dennis' life and the active pall bearers were Craig Marsh, Kevin Anderson, Dennis Klassen, Larry Fehr, Terry Orange and Les Wiebe. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Gideons. Dennis was laid to rest in the Glenbush Hoffnungsfelder Mennonite Cemetery.
