Thomas Rainey 1931-2020 It is with profound sadness that the family of Thomas Rainey announces his passing on Monday August 10, 2020 at St. Paul's Hospital. The wake and funeral will take place on Big River First Nation. Thomas was lovingly survived by, His daughters: Linda (Victor) Sanderson and family; Agnes Keenatch and family; Cecilia Keenatch-Smallboy and family; Special grandson: Chief Jack Rayne (Karen); Special granddaughter: Sophie Sanderson (Owen); Many grandchildren, chapans, nieces/nephews; His chapan: Keira Isbister; His God-daughter: Bernice Gaudry; His God-son: Wendell Netmaker. Thomas was predeceased by His parents: Max and Maryanne Rainey; His siblings: Louis (Georgina) Sahpossum, Andrew (Mary) Rainey, Maryanne (Peter) Lachance, Georgina (Sylvestre) Cardinal, and Margaret (Antoine) Bear; His first wife: Dorthy Rainey (nee: Dreaver); The love of his life: Sophie Keenatch; His children: Melvin, Calvin, George, Ivan Keenatch, Therese Keenatch, and Marlene Rabbitskin; His grandchildren: Michael Keenatch, Ricky Keenatch, Thomas Masuskapoe, Calvin Masuskapoe; His chapans: Kaylan Keenatch, Evander Sanderson, Baby Kyle Bear Jr., Terrance Keenatch, Northstar Keenatch, and Leemin Keenatch-Naytowhow The services were officiated by the elders; honorary pallbearers were, Gordon Dreaver Sr., Mervin Dreaver, Wilfred Dreaver, Ivan Dreaver, and all those who knew and loved Tom. Active pallbearers were, Carl Dreaver, Darrelle Delorme Jr., James Bear, Clarke Whitefish, Archie Rabbitskin, and Harry Bear. Thomas was laid to rest in the Whitefish Catholic Cemetery by the river.
