Obituary of James "Jim" Douglas Mattock

MATTOCK – James 1932 – 2020 It is with great sadness, the family of James Mattock announce his passing on August 15, 2020, at the age of 87, after a battle with Covid-19. James “Jim” Douglas Mattock was born August 31, 1932 at the family farm by Marcelin, to Allan and Eva Mattock. Jim continued mixed farming on the Mattock Homestead. In 1955 he met Nellie Olexson and they were married on August 2, 1956. Mixed farming continued, along with Jim driving the school bus for five years, enjoying carpentry when he had time and in 1985 he began working for the Verbonac Farms. Jim enjoyed many fishing trips with family and friends and when he could no longer go on his own, family and friends made sure that he still got out fishing. His other joys were many family gatherings, card playing with many friends, neighbors and family. If you are a member of the Mattock Family you surely know how to play cards and if you became a family member there were no options “you played cards” Other things Jim enjoyed was playing Bingo and the many trips to the Casino. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Allan and Eva Mattock; brothers, Billy, Dick, Gordon, and Howard; and a sister Jean. Jim is survived by his wife; Nellie; his children, Peggy (John), Norman (Linda), Kelly (Karen), Lorna (Dan); his grandchildren, Krystal (A.J.), Megan (Darcy) daughter Gracelynn, Riannon (Jonathan) and their children Maddison, Weston and Emmerson, Lynden (Stacey), Kris (Tanis), Kendra, Sydney (Jake), Hannah (Kyle) and Cody (Jessica); and his sisters, Shirley Peake and Betty Legge. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held for Jim with immediate family.
