Obituary of Richard Raymond Desjardins

Richard Raymond Desjardins 1958 - 2020 On the afternoon of August 28th, 2020, Richard Raymond Desjardins passed away peacefully at home, with his loving wife Brenda and his faithful dog, Max, by his side. Richard bravely battled pancreatic cancer, spending his final months at home with his wife, sons and grandchildren. Richard was born to Raymond and Gisele (Lagimodiere) on July 30th, 1958, in Shellbrook, SK. He was the third of six children. Richard grew up in Marcelin, SK, where he attended school and worked for his grandfather and father at Desjardins Service. In 1974, Richard met the woman he would marry. Brenda Ingram had come to Marcelin from Lloydminster to visit her grandparents. She arrived at the bus stop at the garage, and met Richard that evening. In 1986, they were married in the Crow’s Nest Pass, AB, and together they had three sons: Tyson, Benett and Shawn. In 1996, Richard took over the garage, becoming the third generation of Desjardins to serve as the town’s mechanic. Richard also worked for Conan Farms, helping with harvest. He loved driving the combine and enjoyed the work. Richard served his community as a member of the Curling Club, a Director on the Co-op Board, the Fire Chief of Marcelin Volunteer Fire Dept., and a member of the Marcelin Senior’s Club. He volunteered at many Summerfests, snowmobile rallies, and was always willing to roll up his sleeves and help anywhere and anyone in need. Richard loved to ride his motorcycle, spending time riding in the summer with his brothers and son. He took part in the Saskatoon Motorcycle Ride for Dad from its inception and raised over $10,000, achieving status of a Captain’s Diamond Club Member, Richard was very proud of this achievement. Everyone who knew “Dirty Shirt” will remember him for his twinkling blue eyes, his quick sense of humour, his love for his family and his ability to have fun. He was hard working and a huge support to his community. He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by: his parents, Raymond and Gisele; his siblings, Claude(Faye), Jocelyn(Rob Sutherland), Marc(Wanda), Annette(Mark Stevens), Alain(Donna); his wife, Brenda and their sons; Tyson(Sherry Joanette) and children: Daggon, Josh, David, James and Eric; Benett(Amber Joanette) and daughter, Ashlyn; Shawn(Jalisa Gamble) and son Walker.
