Obituary of Steve Kinash

It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Steve Kinash on January 20th, 2009 at the age of 74 years. Steve was the son of the late Andrew and Annie Kinash. He was born on Section 16, Twp 51, Rge 17, W3rd, northwest of Glaslyn. He was one of five boys and four girls: Mary, Olga, John, Steve, Matt, Lena, Helen, David and Billy. Steve went to school in Green Park. In the winter when the snow blew in the roads, we didn't see Steve at school until the snow melted in the Spring. In his early years, Steve worked at many jobs for farmers. Later on he was employed by CN on the maintenance crew for a number of years. His greatest past time in those years was chariot racing and chuck wagon racing at Aquadeo Summer Resort. About 1963 Steve was in a truck accident and for the next forty years he lived with caregivers Wanda and Frank Michnik . In 1999 he was welcomed into the Spiritwood Health Complex where he enjoyed his many last years. Steve had a special friend Greg Sommerfeld with whom he visited almost every day. He was a quiet gentleman with a soft heart. The funeral service was held Saturday, January 24th, 2009 from the Spiritwood Health complex with Delores Beaulac officiating. The pianist was Jean Berg. Barb Szasz was the soloist. The eulogy was read by Yvette McGowan. The honorary Pallbearers were "All friends who shared in Steve's life". The urn bearer was Frank Michnik. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Steve's memory may be made to the Spiritwood Health Complex or Prairie Community Endeavors.
