Obituary of Jason Altenberg
It is with great heartache that we announce the passing of our son, Jason Altenberg, father, brother, husband, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.
Jason passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at the age of 37. Jason was born on August 28, 1983 in Prince Albert, SK to Darryl and Dianne Altenberg. As a young boy Jason spent his time at the hockey rink, playing with his cousins, brothers and the boys of East End. He then played competitive and rec hockey for the rest of his life. He loved all sports. He met his beautiful wife Courtney and they were looking forward to building a life together with their two beautiful girls, Natalie and Nerea. Jason built a career with Corrections Canada and was an Aboriginal Program Officer at the PA Penitentiary. Jason loved to spend time with his family and friends at Candle Lake. Boating and nights around the fire is where you could find him in the summer months. He loved to be surrounded by his family and friends. Always up for a good time, Jason lived his life to the fullest. He loved to travel, always planning his next adventure. Jason will be remembered as a fun-loving guy, he was loved and respected by so many and he touched a lot of lives.
Jason is survived by his loving wife Courtney, his two daughters, Natalie and Nerea; his parents, Darryl and Dianne Altenberg; his brother, Curtis (Cecily) and family, Preslee (Gabriel Nyland), Ethan, Donna, Samara; his brother, Shawn; his grandmothers, Delphine Altenberg and Lorna Rasmussen; his uncles and aunties, Douglas (Charlene) Altenberg and family, Jennifer (Andy) Ashley (Travis) and David (Peggy-lee) Altenberg and family, Alison, Natashia, Christina; Ken (Cindy) Rasmussen and family Bradley (Noreen) Clayton, Sarah (Blaine); Linda Rassussen and her daughter, Samantha; Wayne (Audrey) Rasmussen and family, Christopher and Michael; Garry (Kari) Rasmussen and family, Christopher, Anna, Brent, Marc, Sean, and Emily; his mother in-law, Janice (Vince) Hill; his sister and brothers-in-law, Shandel Samson (Kevin), Daris Samson (Breanne), Maryn Hill, Brynn Hill (Dustin) and his newest niece Amera; his father in-law, Ron (Laurie) Samson, grandmothers-in-law, Lorna Greig and Marg Samson; Courtney's extended Seesequasis family; as well as numerous aunties, uncles, nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He was predeceased by his grandfathers, Donald Altenberg and Paul Rasmussen, Henry Greig, and Clifford Samson.
Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2020, at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens, Prince Albert, SK, with Father DJ Vu as Officiant.
