I remember Jimmy as my best friend when we were kids playing hockey for the St. Pats Orphanage Pee Wee hockey team starting in the 1950 - 1951 season. He was always the best player and a real leader for any team we played on. At times our paths would coincide and we would have a chat. I last talked with my friend Jimmy at Cooke Municipal Golf Course in Prince Albert SK. So sorry he is gone.

Dear Donna, Dana, Darcey, David and families,
We are so sad that Jim has passed. He was indeed one of a kind. We saw him always at the Super Bowl Parties at McDonalds and carried on the friendship started long ago on the Cleveland Barons. He always spoke so lovingly of all of you. On a list of success stories his would be at the top. The world is lesser with his passing.

My condolences to the family on the loss of your dad. May the memories of the best of times give you comfort at this difficult time. Campbell McIntyre

I am Sorry to hear the passing of our good friend Jim, Chief. We have fond memories of the times we spent with him in Wpg and Europe. We enjoyed our luncheons with him and our Super Bowl Parties at our house with all his hockey buddies. We are going to miss his Native Chili that he managed to bring every year. Came by cab, but always got a ride home with one of the players and his wife . He always made us laugh with his little quips. And he always talked about his family as he always saw them on holidays. Hope he is sharing a pint with a few of his buddies up there.in the good place. Miss you. Mrs Ab McDonald Pat. God Bless

Through my brother Gerry and my own involvement in hockey, I came to know Jim quite well, and over many decades. I never referred to him as Chief. Jim was always humble despite his stature are en elite athlete. He was happy, friendly and fun-very liked and respected. I vividly recall an exhibition game in Saskatoon when nutbar Howie Young (who I played with and observed his propensity to hurt other players) for noe reason injured 2 Ranger teammates, one being Dick Duff. Jim, on a rush with the puck, skated right at Young, shot the puck at his head, dropped his gloves and laid a beating on this bully. Great teammate, out of character, and entirely appropriate. Wonderful human being who happened to also be a world class athlete, Herb Pinder

If you ever had the opportunity to meet Jim, you would never forget him. He had an easy going manner about him even when he playing hockey. He was such an effortless hockey player - his style was smooth and he always got the job done. We had lots of laughs when Jim was around. I will miss him. Ross Parke.

I remember Jim from St Mary's High School, where he was a year or two ahead of me. He was a quiet but imposing figure from the view of a younger, skinny kid. And he was a force on the ice at hockey games, where his size and obvious talent made him a standout!
