Obituary of Marie Rose Lajeunesse

Updated service information:

It is with great sadness that the family of Marie Rose Lajeunesse announce her passing on December 25, 2020, at the age of 103 years, at Whispering Pine Place in Canwood, SK.

Mom was born at Shell River, Saskatchewan, on May 19, 1917. She was the 10th child of a family of 13. She married Raymond on October 7, 1935, and they were able to celebrate 72 wonderful years of marriage until Raymond passed away on December 6th, 2007.

In their early years, they farmed near Debden and raised 9 children. After 30 years of farming, they decided to sell the farm and move to Prince Albert where they resided for 4 years before moving back to Debden in their newly built home. In their retirement, they enjoyed day trips snowmobiling with friends, curling and spending much of their summers at Morin Lake.

Marie Rose belonged to the Debden Ladies Club and the Golden Age Club. She was a very social person and made many good friends.

Mom and Dad were able to do some travelling to destinations such as Alaska, United States and throughout Canada. A trip to Rome to see the Pope was a lifetime highlight for Mom. Faith in God was an important part of Marie Rose's life. She was a member of Les Dames de St. Anne, Les Associés de Debden and was also involved in other Parish activities.

Mom was a wonderful resourceful homemaker, wife and mother. In addition to her love of gardening and flowers, Mom excelled at sewing and knitting those warm and cozy afghans which were greatly valued gifts. Her tourtieres were especially enjoyed at Christmas time.

She will be missed by her children, Gilles (Eugenie) Lajeunesse, Jacqueline (Marc) Bonneau, Sr. Diane Lajeunesse, Lucille (Bob) Bonin, Claude (Marlene) Lajeunesse, Paul (Laurel) Lajeunesse, Lynn Guard, and Lois (Lyle) Wallin; her 22 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mom really enjoyed the visits from all her grand/great children as her eyes lit up when she saw them coming.

She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond, her son Marcel, her grandson Denis Bonneau, her son-in-law Rod Guard, her parents and 12 siblings.

Mom was also a resident of Abbeyfield House in Prince Albert and the Debden Heritage Manor prior to going to Whispering Pine Place in Canwood. The family would like to thank the staff at Whispering Pine Place for the care and support they provided Marie Rose the last seven years. They did their jobs in ways that were kind and compassionate and made family welcome and involved at all times, even through these COVID times. Your many acts of kindness did not go unnoticed - Thank You. Her last three to four years was a heart breaking period of physical and mental decline inflicted on her by dementia. Now she rests in peace!
