Obituary of Iver George Muller

MULLER- Mr. Iver Muller, age 63, late of Parkside, passed away in his farm residence on Saturday, March 14, 2009. Iver was born March 5, 1946 in Prince Albert, and grew up on the family farm near Honeywood. He attended Honeywood School, Parkside School, Shellbrook High School, and Outlook Luther Bible College. Iver enjoyed a happy childhood on the farm with his brothers and numerous friends, horseback riding, tobogganing, the 4H club, hockey, and curling. Iver began his own farming career, married the love of his life, Diane in 1967, and purchased the first two quarters of his own land. Iver loved farming and like many farmers, harvest was his favorite season. After harvest it was time for hockey and curling. Iver was the goalie for the Parkside Packers. He also coached the Leask Flyers to the 1987-88 Provincial championship. Iver was a member of the Leask Lion's Club for nearly 30 years, also the Leask Rink Committee, and various other volunteer groups. Iver and Diane were awarded the Sportsman of the Year award in 1990. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and ski-dooing. He was on the Leask RM Council for 11 years. Iver's grandchildren were special to him, and during his final years of declining health, they always brought a smile to his face. Iver was kind, compassionate, considerate, and a great neighbour. He will be missed by his family and community. Iver leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Diane of Parkside; his mother, Isabel Muller of Shellbrook; his children, Rick (Carol) Muller of Prince Albert and children Breana and Christina, Kimberly (Blair Haas) of Shellbrook and children Shelby and Colby, Greg (Raeleen) Muller of Shellbrook and children Mitchell and Matt; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, George Muller; his brothers, Darrel and Brian Muller. The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Henry's Roman Catholic Church in Leask, with Rev. Fr. Tony Pangan as celebrant. The eulogist was Gerald Muller, and the musicians were Mary Stocker and Terry Martin. The Honor Guard was the Leask Lion's Club, and the pallbearers were Max Jupe, Lorrie Schutte, Ron Peake, Ernest Muller, Eugene Lalonde, Ron Banda. Memorial donations may be made to the Shellbrook and Districts Health Services Project. Interment was in Honeywood Cemetery.
