Obituary of Mary Swityk
SWITYK, Mary (nee Markowski) passed away at Royal University Hospital on May 1, 2009. Mary was born on May 22, 1926 in the St. Jude District near Wakaw SK. After attending Business College in Prince Albert she worked at the Bank of Montreal in Dormery until her marriage to Mike Swityk on July 21, 1946. Mike and Mary made their home in the Junor District where they carried on a mixed farming operation. Mary actively participated in the farming business by working in the fields and contributing to business decisions. She played an active role in the Legion, on School Boards and the formation of the Saskatchewan Trapper's Association. Her interests and hobbies included politics, oil painting, sewing and quilting. Mary is survived by her children Michael(Brenda) of Spiritwood SK, Marlene of Leoville SK and Myron(Doreen) of Saskatoon SK; five grandchildren Larissa(Ryan) Conacher, Alanna and Landon Swityk, all of Spiritwood Sk and Erin(David) Hamel and Meghan(Geoff) Fossenier,both of Saskatoon SK; great grandchildren Taylor, Avarie, Faith, Cameron and Julianna; her sister's Helen(Fred) Kaminsky,Sophie(Nick) Shewchuk, Irene(Don) Nordstrom and Theresa(Al) Boutin; her brothers William(Lil)Markowski,Fred(Marie)Markowski and Michael Markowski. She was predeceased by her loving husband Mike in 1999; her parents Mike and Pearl Markowski; her sisters Olga(Nick) Richinski and Caroline Markowski; brothers John, Peter and Paul Markowski; an infant brother and sister. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday, May 6th, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. from the St. Theresa's R. C. Church Leoville, SK with Rev. Fr. Paul deGuzman as celebrant.. The Cross Bearer was Landon Swityk, the music was directed by Phil Marion and Doris Daniels was the organist. The Honorary Pallbearer were the Nurses & Staff - Orthopedics 5300 - Royal University Hospital and Staff & Residents of Oasis Personal Care Home. The active Pallbearers were Greg Metrunec, Mark Metrunec Lyle Markowski, Evan Markowski, Robert Rickinski and Walter Pylypchuk. In lieu of flower's Memorial Donations may be made to Royal University Hospital Foundation ~ Orthopedics. Mary was laid to rest in the Junor Cemetery.
