Obituary of Lawrence Gary Hart

Lawrence Gary Hart February 7, 1940 – May 13, 2021 We are saddened to announce the passing of Lawrence Hart at the Spiritwood Long Term Care Facility at the age of 81. Lawrence was born and raised in the Shell Lake area. After completing his rural education he worked on the family farm and for some local farmers. He then moved to Alberta where he was employed for ten years. His first job was at the Air Force Base in Cold Lake managing the vending machines. Shortly after, he moved to Grand Centre where he was employed with Primrose Produce. The next eight years he had his own trucking business, “Hart’s Beverage” delivering Pepsi products to communities in and around Grand Centre. He returned to the family farm and helped farming and gradually taking over the farming operations by clearing and breaking more land for cultivation. He also ran a successful pig and cow-calf operation. He continued to farm as long as he was able to and then turning it over to his nephews, Shane and Travis. Lawrence’s farm home was always opened to family and friends. He welcomed them from near and far and took time to enjoy visits with them. Lawrence enjoyed seeing his nieces and nephews. He was interested in where they were and how they were doing. He was a “fatherly figure” to his nephews Shane and Travis. Lawrence always found time to enjoy the fellowship with his circle of bachelor friends. There were many visits, celebrating each other’s birthdays, going to a smorg, a fall supper, a buffet or a good restaurant. He was always available to lend a helping hand when needed and was thankful to receive a helping hand. Lawrence is survived by his brothers, Albert (Gayle), Leonard (Mary), Gordon and his sister Rita (Henry) Leoppky also many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Albert and Helen Hart, brothers Bill and Edward Hart, sister Gladys Barber, sister-in-law Rose Marie Hart and brother-in-law Alfred Barber. The family would like to thank the staff at the Spiritwood Long Term Care Facility for their care and compassion. A private family graveside burial will take place. Family and friends wishing to send online condolences are welcome to visit www.beaulacfuneralhome.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Beau "Lac" Funeral Home & Crematorium, Mark Muir Funeral Director, Spiritwood, SK (306) 883 - 3500. God gives a farmer in heaven a job, he goes to work where there is no weeds or stones, just sunshine, no repairs, no stress and no worry, no need to rush or hurry, with a smile on his face, that’s how we picture our brother in God’s heaven’s place…
