Betty Dunn

Obituary of Betty Lou Dunn

With heavy hearts we announce the recent the passing of our mother Betty Lou Dunn (nee: Panter), 1937-2021.

Betty passed away July 20, 2021, in Prince Albert Hospital, one day shy of her 84th birthday after a short illness.  She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and friend to many.

Betty is survived by her sister Ethel Millard. Daughter Kelly Veloso (Lito Veloso) (children:

Jordan, Vaughn, Steven, and Amy).  Daughter Karen Steed-Weircinski (Joseph Weircinski), (daughters: Kelly and Mikyla).  Son William Steed (Robyn Steed), (children: Brendan, Johana, Owen, Hayden, and Abby-Lynn), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grand child.

Betty Lou was born in Rapid Bend Saskatchewan and was raised on the family farm in Ladder Valley.  She was the youngest daughter of the 8 children of Anton and Neta Panter.   She attended the one room school in Ladder Valley during her school age years.

Mom loved gardening, visiting, and playing cards with her friends and family, she was an active member of the community of Big River, attending many fundraisers and gatherings.  She was a member of Big River Town Council from 2007-2012.

As Betty lived independently in Big River in her later years, Betty's children would like to express our heat-felt gratitude to the Panter family in Big River and her close friends that helped her when she occasionally need it and checked in on her often.  Without them, things would have been much more difficult for her.

A Celebration of Life will be held later this summer at the Ladder Valley Hall.

Donations in Betty’s memory may be made to the Donor’s Choice.  Family and friends wishing to send on line condolences may visit www.beaulacfuneralhome.com

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Beau”Lac” Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lynn Anderson, Funeral Director, Shellbrook SK. 306-747-2828.
